[Instagram] (6 November 2024) The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind, If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
[Instagram] (28 November 2023) It was a dizzying time. I had the privilege of spending a week in Europe, split between Paris and Brussels. I drank a lot of Orangina! It was wonderful simply to observe a different city culture at play. One in which pedestrians can roam more freely and public services operate more reliably. One that calls upon a history on the order of thousands of years as opposed to hundreds. What I left with, above all, was a newfound appreciation for the quotidian. Certain day-to-day experiences (separate from all the tourist-y stuff) had a novel, foreign flavor but were simultaneously reminiscent of home. It struck me, too unoriginally, that Paris is just somewhere else and so is Brussels. Quite a grand somewhere else, surely, but ... somewhere else. At any point in time, no matter what, we're just somewhere and it's up to us to make the most of it. So here's to that. One of my favorite moments during the entire week was on the first night when I briefly watched a swan struggle against the Seine. Over the course of a few minutes it had barely displaced itself but maybe that wasn't the goal. As what seemed to be a constantly reoccurring theme, it appeared content being where it was and doing what it was doing. Nothing else mattered. The moment evokes, to my mind, an equally reoccurring phrase: Fluctuat nec mergitur.
[Instagram] (4 November 2022) I saw God last night. He spoke to us for 1 hour and 45 minutes. And we listened.
The greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century was not the fall of the Soviet Union. It was the lack of immediate critical acclaim following the release of Weezer's Pinkerton.

My Letterboxd history strongly indicates that I tend to review films that I disliked watching and, in particular, rated two stars.
