Without further ado -- let us write. In the midst of our digital age, the written word still reigns king. I am not so optimistic that bits of information are likely to survive; paper has proven itself in that regard. The act of writing offers clarity when and where it is most often needed. Organize your thoughts, ye mighty, and despair!
Our thoughts are but a first draft, loose notes, of what we really think. It is only after considerable contemplation that we should dare have faith in our ideas. Be creative in what you think -- brainstorm as directly as you wish. But choose wisely when the time comes to stake your progress. All of prose and poetry is a declaration. The former is a bold pronouncement; the latter is a prideful shout.
We as humans are only a function of our communication in the first place. All that has ever been built, everything accomplished, was first communicated or expressed. There is no exception. It is the only way we have found to exist. It is thus imperative to sharpen our faculties of expression, whether this be concrete or abstract. Of course, the queen of such faculties is how we write. Text messages, emails, a diary, etc. One shall not discriminate one type from the next. To hone our precision of language and develop a personal style is of the utmost importance. The content is then secondary, albeit extremely important in its own right. Do you say what you mean and mean what you say? Do you write unapologetically as yourself, with your own words and punctuation and syntax, prescriptive grammar be damned?
The above is an oblique argument in support of humility, honesty, and everyday sincerity. A plea toward living deliberately, as another has described it. That same argument is likewise positioned against untoward aggrandizement and self-deception. Writing is one of the greatest tools humanity has developed in pursuit of that goal (amongst others, usually defined by the author themself). Begin now or begin never -- beware the action unrealized.
